Propaganda is a way of persuading people to believe in something. Its first move is by distorting the truth. The view is given one sided only. It could be involving: social, economical, cultural or political affairs. The system is directed to the population via media communication (newspapers, radio, TV and adverts). It could be done sarcastically or with jargon (political high language). Many times the government uses such ways to gain support. It is a way of indoctrinating and dramatising issues, resulting in brainwashing people.

Introduction to Film Study
This was the best area of learning and the most exciting through the entire year. I enjoy watching movies but what is more important is the true essence of the movie, is it a form of history or relating to present issues. I had watched ‘The Kingdom of Heaven” previously but not with been so specific in the details of characters, scenes, camera directions and loads of other work put into developing a film. I think learning about films is very interesting as well as dealing with history in the film. Dealing with true historical issues expands your knowledge. I had actually started researching about the films plot as well as started reading history books. This movie was dealing with the Third Crusade, the surrender of Palestine, the story of Balian and the hero Saladin.
Evaluation of Writing a Story Book
This project was given on the bases of a competition at the beginning, unfortunately in life I had lost track of time management and never hand it in on time. Though I did write it during my holidays. It was a very different and tricky assignment. Writing a book is not the same thing as writing an essay, more importantly we were writing it for children, Grade 3-6. My attitude at the beginning was just to get this irritating work out of my face and carry on with life, but after thinking of ideas and SWATING I grew a liking to the work. I decided to try my best and make a good book no matter how much effort I would have to put in or how much enjoyment I would have to sacrifice. This entire year I’ve been trying to improve my ways of speaking and speaking on a higher level. With this book I had to degrade myself to a beginner in reading. I tried to incorporate all issues I remember from my interviews with Apartheid activists as well as what I have read in the book. I successfully completed my story and typed it out. I had then sent it for binding and a few professional inputs to make it look neater. During this process I learnt how to have patience with people especially in the business department. Luckily I handed it in and I am pleased with what I managed to do.
Evaluation of Term 3
Each term has being getting better for me overall in English. I have developed more skills in working with my time management, this I think makes a difference in the way you work and how you do your work. We had worked in depth with the book ‘Cry, the Beloved Country”. When I say in depth I don’t mean doing line by line analysis but I mean by reading with understanding and capturing the big picture. It was a great book to learn due to the reason of me being a South African citizen whose parents and grand-parents were alive during the major struggle. The best project for the term was building Shanty Town and Modern South Africa; it was an eye opening experience to see the low and high life. Together with the play we did was really major fun. Together with exploring the internet during lessons and interacting with the outside world brought the story to reality. It was also nice to watch the movie with reading. One of the poems I did and I doubt I will ever forget is “the Abandoned Bundle”, that is truly a powerful and realistic poem. At the end of the day we should thank Allah for the things he makes possible, I also would like to thank my teacher Mr Sujee who has and always will inspire me. Last but not least to my friends who work closely with me and help willingly.

Evaluation for English Term 1, 2 and Other Work
Evaluation of Term 1 and Term 2
English with Mr Sujee
I was a student who was not interested in the English subject; there was no substance in it that ever attracted me. It was instilled in my brain that English is a compulsory subject and you have to do it whether you like it or not. I have struggled all my life in English, it was the worst percentage on my report and I constantly regretted it. It became a norm getting shouting from my parents for not reading enough and speaking the wrong way but usual for a teenager I ignored them and took the valuable information in one ear and let it out the other. This had all changed since I started grade 10. Yes, the worst working year of my life, but as it goes, IM IN GRADE 10!
Arriving late for the first term hadn’t had an impact on my work but thinking of Mr Sujee been my teacher scared me out of my wits. I hadn’t expected a fun, energetic, enthusiastic and welcoming teacher. I will say I expected a strict and stern man. Well I was proved wrong. I was struck with work from the beginning, regretting at first been with this teacher who expected too much and over loaded me with work. Keeping up with the new pace and level of working and understanding was very high and it made me jump at first. Then again I had no idea of managing my time, planning my week or day or even organizing my work. But this had all changed I slowly, with the help of Allah, started adapting myself to the new way. The first term went fast and furious. It was an experience; I learnt my mistakes of reading or doing work. My heart grew interest in reading. I learnt things that bewildered my parents. I felt proud to be doing something for once. The Merchant of Venice, which was the first play of Shakespeare’s I ever did, was an eye opening teaching experience. The way we dealt with the text and the way our lessons were structured were very interesting, it kept the brain thinking. Learning a play is not the way you read any ordinary novel. The language usage is much different but very interesting. The way we analysed the characters, their behaviour and broke the scenes up to get the entire picture of the event helped me to understand. The first term past and upon returning to school, shockingly I remembered a lot of my work.
We began a South African novel, once again I expected it to be boring but wad proved long. I have enjoyed learning this novel so far. The activities and the way we place reality in our teaching amuses me. I won’t lie at the beginning of each English period; I say not another long hour of English. It all changes when I begin my lesson, learning on the internet and active board is exiting. Creating bloodspots and incorporating the internet in to our learning is exiting. I get amused with the technology we use. The idea of working with laptops in the class. It brings fun in our lesson. When I leave the class I am smiling and pondering over the things I heard and land up discussing it with my friends.
English I can say is a great subject if you learn it the way I do. I thank my teacher who is responsible for taking us this far and Inshallah will be with us for longer. All credit goes to him, the various things he does, the intense planning. I intend completing my schooling years with him as my teacher. It is a pleasure to be his student. The way he teachers strikes the brain and heart of every student. I have been having a lot of fun so far and intend to have much more. On the other hand I intend working harder to improve my marks as well as get more involved with class participation.

Evaluation of Audio Assignment
I was given the assignment early in the year; it came as a total shock and surprise to my ear. I was totally taken aback and could not believe this is the type of projects I would be dealing with. How could it be possible for a grade 10 learner to go on radio, what was this teacher thinking. We not born geniuses or something. I regretfully had started the last week with it. I started with the planning which took intense thinking and jotted down ideas. Incorporating the idea of Elizabethan times made it trickier. I tried to stick with simple ideas. I compiled my transcript which had taken a few days. After discussing with my parents of how I should do it, I played around on the computer with my voice. Fussing the first few times I finally gave in. It sounded relatively fine. I successfully completed the task on time. It had been fun and amusing to listen to my fellow colleges’ voices. Seen the potential in me and others broke many barriers. Not having the fear of been placed down in front of others or someone listening to my funny voice had all disappeared. It opened the way of thinking and realizing our potentials. It was a great experience. It would be an opportunity to teach others or give them the same task, at first they would have the same repulsive reaction but later they would discover the greatness in it. I regard it as a good project.
Evaluation of Collages
We had made many collages each based on a different aspect we learnt. It is a way of explaining or viewing ones opinion in simple terms. As they say pictures paint many words. It is exactly what we do; we place pictures or many creative objects on a chart. Each thing would symbolise something. When we explained it to the class we tried to be creative and unique. Including actions and funny ways of presenting. I enjoy making charts especially with my friends. It broadens our mind set. This is due to doing research in the process. I would love to make many more. It is a fun way of learning.
Thank You Mr Sujee for the exellent lessons.
Evaluation of Power Point Presentation
I can now see were all this intensive learning is taking me. My skills are improving. I am opening my mind and using new ways of learning. Technology is an innovative way of learning. It is much more different to all other subjects. It’s a total different atmosphere. All this time the teacher would conduct a lesson from the active board, but now I have actually done one. I realise the effort put into each slide, in this project we worked with a group of 6 and it took effort and time. It wont be easy doing one yourself. Working with a group also made me see peoples potential and it was sometimes irritating when you have to beg people for work and so forth, but it equips you to learn from others and tests your patience. After working with power point and presenting. I did make few mistakes but I have learnt and am developing with technology. All this is possible with the help of Allah (God) and with a superb teacher Mr Sujee.

My Day in Court
I had waited for this day all my life. Finally I had graduated with a degree in Law. It brought to me a sense of joy and relief which all exploded with a vast amount of feelings. This was all for the simple reasons of completing four years of intense studying and going to start work.
It all seemed very jolly and my expectations were completely opposite to what my first case would actually be. I hadn’t yet worked on any case individually, therefore the anxiety in my heart kept pumping vigorously. When I unlocked the case file with my crippled hands, the first words I seen was ‘DEBT’.
The bases of the case were simply defending a Christian merchant against a Jew. It never bothered me ever about conflict between religions especially Christian and Jew, thinking it was a new South Africa. The merchant had borrowed a sum of R100 000 and agreed on paying it on a certain date. The date had expired and the Jew had sued him. The men had, had a punishment stipulated before hand. The agreement was that the merchant would make his wife a slave to the Jew. To me it sounded like a joke, I really wonder what was going through their minds when agreeing to such a punishment. The problem arouse when the merchant and his wife had gotten divorced and the Jew insists on double the sum.
The first time I had met with my client, we had a very tense conversation. I had tried to extract every grain of the case from he’s perspective. The same day we went to court. Walking in to a full room of serious faces brought a shiver down my spine. I looked around and realised I was the only women in court. It sounded impossible but it was true, I walked sternly. So no man would undermine my abilities. A few faces smirked which grew anger in my soul.
We all sat. I glanced to my left to have a vision of the plaintiff. The case officially started. I cross-examined the plaintiff to figure weather he was a soft or hard hearted man. From what I could draw he insisted on double the sum and was not going to reason. This situation placed me in a difficult spot and I wouldn’t want to lose my first case or let down a broken hearted man. Finally, with all my courage and might I leapt up and said “have you no heart for a brother, he who is in difficulty of paying you. Your heart is filled with pride and no kindness. What do you have against a soul of a Christian? Is it that you a Jew and him of another faith?” This speech had brought a wide discussion. The discussion lasted a while until the judge grew impatient and decided on giving his verdict. My eyes stared at the judge, he then said, “what the lady has said is true, it is impossible to demand such a large sum. But there will be a punishment; the Christian will have to pay 20% interest of the sum. It is inhuman of asking for something as making a wife a slave. “Case Closed”
My brain froze. I could not believe that I had just won against men. I looked at my client he said he was pleased, this made me smile. I might have not won the entire case but I felt I did. It was an experience.

The Call
“Though justice be thy plea”
Proclaimed in high places
Among tribunals with sparkling robes
Though men might flea with or without true justice
What about thee
That justice hasn’t been proclaimed by
Among tribunals with sparkling robes
Justice needed by children in Iraq
Justice needed by people in war
We are fighting for justice and peace for all
But no man is answering the call
Proclaimed in high places
Among tribunals with sparkling robes
Though men might flea with or without true justice
What about thee
That justice hasn’t been proclaimed by
Among tribunals with sparkling robes
Justice needed by children in Iraq
Justice needed by people in war
We are fighting for justice and peace for all
But no man is answering the call
